Afterschool Program Support Staff
Montgomery County Department of Recreation, a nationally recognized and award-winning agency, is seeking highly motivated SEASONAL/PARTTIME AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM EMPLOYEES to support the department’s mission to provide high quality, diverse, and accessible community-based programs, activities, and services that serve the recreation and leisure needs of the Montgomery County community. The department manages 39 facilities including recreation centers, senior centers, and indoor and outdoor aquatic facilities and provides thousands of programs such as out-of-school activities, aquatics, classes, youth and adult sports programs and leagues, senior programs, and therapeutic recreation.
A wide variety of seasonal positions are available, including:
Seasonal/ Intermittent Program Assistant Director/ Support Staff (Therapeutic Recreation Programs)
These positions are responsible for customer service, general supervision of participants, and the implementation of the programming plan. Expectations include but not limited to leading positive activities such as exercise, performing and creative arts, special events; providing a clean safe and supportive environment; proper use and maintenance of equipment; assist with the set-up, break-down, cleanliness and organization of shared space. Assistant Directors are expected to assist with the supervision of employees and volunteers as well as supporting the Program Director in other administrative duties. Inclusion support staff may be assigned to support one or multiple individuals with disabilities in a general recreation program or activity.
Afterschool Program Assistant Director/ Support Staff (Youth Development)
These positions are responsible for customer service, general supervision of participants, and the implementation of the programming plan. Expectations include but not limited to leading positive youth development activities such as intramural sports, performing and creative arts, youth advisory groups; providing a clean safe and supportive environment; proper use and maintenance of equipment; assist with the set-up, break-down, cleanliness and organization of shared space. Assistant Directors are expected to assist with the coordination of employees as well as supporting the Program Director in other administrative duties.
Soccer4Change Field Staff (Youth Development)
These positions support the year round soccer programming for youth throughout the County through skill building, clinics and league play for middle & high school students. Staff are responsible for setup and breakdown of equipment/field spaces, supporting and supervising players and spectators, leading soccer related activities (coaching, skill building, refereeing, scorekeeping), monitoring field play, coordinating with teams, coaches, referees and other assignments as related to the implementation of the Soccer4Change program. Practices and games are held afterschool and evenings, especially on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Employees may perform related duties as required. All applicants MUST meet the minimum qualifications for the position, as well as demonstrate the ability to perform the required functions. Individuals selected will be required to successfully pass a criminal background investigation, including a State, Federal and Sexual offender background check.
The hourly rate for this SEASONAL/TEMPORARY position is $16.78
